Homer’s Odyssey - Fall 2025 - Registration
Tuesdays and Thursdays (12-12:30 pm Pacific // 3-3:30 pm Eastern), September 2 — November 20
In this class, we will read and discuss one of the most essential works of Western literature—Homer’s Odyssey—in its entirety. Widely regarded as a foundational text, The Odyssey is a must-read for students interested in mythology, literature, and the ancient world. Its themes of heroism, identity, homecoming, and the struggle between fate and free will continue to resonate today.
Each half-hour class will focus on one of the poem’s 24 chapters (called “books”), using both the acclaimed new translation by Emily Wilson and Gareth Hinds’ engaging graphic novel adaptation. Our discussions will delve into the text and its mythological background, explore relevant aspects of ancient Greek history and culture, and invite students to respond through their own creative projects.
As space in the class is limited, please complete registration by August 20th to reserve a spot. If you're interested in the asynchronous class option which we offer at discounted rates, please complete the registration form and indicate your preference.
