Introduction to Ancient Archaeology - Pompeii

Unearth the secrets of a lost civilization as we journey back in time to the ancient city of Pompeii. In this 12-week online course, students ages 11+ will explore the archaeological finds of the once-thriving Roman city, the archaeological history and techniques used in excavation, and real examples of Latin found on site. The Class:
Archaeological Adventures: Led by our passionate archaeology teacher, Jordan, students will delve into the art, architecture, and daily life of Pompeii’s inhabitants. From mosaic-covered villas to bustling marketplaces.
The Volcanic Drama: The dramatic events of 79 AD unfolded as Vesuvius unleashed a fury, preserving Pompeii under layers of ash. We’ll analyze artifacts, decipher ancient inscriptions, and piece together the puzzle of this ancient tragedy.
Virtual Excavations: Through interactive sessions, students will virtually excavate Pompeii’s streets, temples, and public baths.
Course Details:
Duration: 12 weeks - week of September 2nd through the week of November 18th - Time TBD based on availability and interest.
