Latin, Greek, and Ecology Teacher

Connie Jiang started her classics journey when she first read Peter Green's translation of the Iliad for her first term at Deep Springs College. In the next three years, she read several other English translations of the epic before telling herself that it was high time to learn ancient Greek, and not because she might run out of English translations to read. Maybe the Iliad would be even better in its original language? (It is.) So, she changed her major at Swarthmore College. To bolster her language skills, Connie then went on to receive a Master's degree from the University of Georgia in Greek and Latin, where she also studied Sanskrit, Classical Chinese, and a little Cantonese and Quechua. Her academic interests lie predominantly in the literature and philosophy of the Mediterranean world (and beyond!) and educational theory, but when she isn't nerding out about these topics, she can be found crocheting, spoon-carving, or hiking.
