Fall 2026 - Introduction to Ancient Philosophy

Meets: Fall, 2026 - Wednesdays from 1-2pm Pacific (4-5pm Eastern) - September 2 through November 18

In a world of rapid information and competing narratives, the ability to think critically and evaluate ideas has never been more important. This class gives students the tools to do exactly that, guided by the foundational thinkers of Western philosophy.

Explore the wisdom of ancient Greece and Rome in this 12-week online course. Students will examine timeless topics such as free will, happiness, love, knowledge, justice, politics, religion, the soul, and the nature of the cosmos. They’ll learn how ancient philosophers began to rationally discuss these ideas amid great cultural and historical change. Readings will be personalized to student interests. The course is taught by our philosophy teacher, Luis Sokol.
