Summer 2026 - Introduction to Ancient Philosophy
Meets: Thursdays from 4-5 pm Pacific (7-8 pm Eastern), June 4 through August 6
Explore the wisdom of ancient Greece, Rome, China, and India. Students will examine timeless topics such as free will, happiness, love, knowledge, justice, politics, religion, the soul, and the nature of the cosmos. They will learn how ancient philosophers began to rationally discuss these ideas amid great cultural and historical change. Readings will be personalized to student interests. The course is taught by Dr. Andrew Alwood, a university professor during the school year and an expert in ancient philosophy.
