Seven Hills in Pompeii - Summer 2027

Pompeii and the surrounding Campania region

Seven Hills returns to Pompeii for a second year in June 2027. This small, family-based program is designed for students with a curiosity about the ancient world, whether they are studying Latin, Greek, ancient history, or are curious about the idea of walking through a city that has been frozen in time for nearly 2,000 years.

One of the central goals of the program is to bring the ancient world off the page and into a real physical space. Students who have studied Roman history, mythology, or Latin through Seven Hills will find themselves standing in the very places they have read about: the houses, streets, shops, and temples of a living Roman city.

Together we will explore Roman daily life through the evidence it left behind, read Latin inscriptions on walls where they were written 2,000 years ago, and engage with extraordinary archaeological sites in ways that are creative and academically serious.

Academic Focus

The academic focus of the program will center on archaeological history and methodology, Latin inscriptions and linguistic exploration, Roman daily life and food culture, and the historical context of the cities in the first century CE. A guided visit to Mount Vesuvius will round out the experience.

The programming is appropriate for upper elementary through high school students with a strong interest in the ancient world, and parents are welcome and encouraged to attend alongside their children. Knowledge of Latin is not required for the trip.

We all learned so much and enjoyed every bit of the program. Really appreciate the thoughtful planning. And loved getting to know everyone in this group.
