Summer, 2027 - Pompeii and the surrounding Campania region

We are excited to share the second Seven Hills Latin in Pompeii trip for June 2027, based in Pompeii and the surrounding Campania region. This small, family-based program is designed for students studying Latin as well as for students with a strong interest in the ancient world, offering an immersive experience of Roman history, daily life, and culture in their original setting.

One of the central goals of the trip is to allow students to encounter places they have already studied through our Latin readings and discussions, and to see how language, history, and daily life come together in a real physical space. Students will explore Roman houses, streets, and shops, speak (in Latin!) in Pompeii, examine Latin inscriptions and graffiti, and engage with the ancient city in ways that are creative, academically serious, and memorable.

Academic Focus

The academic focus of the program will center on archaeological history and methodology, Latin inscriptions and linguistic exploration, Roman daily life and food culture, and the historical context of the cities in the first century CE. A guided visit to Mount Vesuvius will round out the experience.

The programming is appropriate for upper elementary through high school students with a strong interest in the ancient world, and parents are welcome and encouraged to attend alongside their children. Knowledge of Latin is not required for the trip.

We all learned so much and enjoyed every bit of the program. Really appreciate the thoughtful planning. And loved getting to know everyone in this group.
