Word Origins: How Latin and Greek Shaped English - Free Trial Class - Registration

In this free trial class for ages 9-12, Elizabeth will guide students through the history of English words, exploring how Latin and Greek roots reveal the stories and meanings behind the language we use every day. Students will learn to break down unfamiliar words into their component parts, discover connections between words they already know, and see how etymology transforms vocabulary building from memorization into an exercise in discovery.
Whether your child is a Latin learner looking to see the language in action, a word lover curious about where English comes from, or simply looking to strengthen reading comprehension, this class has something to offer.
Following the trial class, we will share details about a full semester etymology course for the fall. No prior knowledge of Latin or Greek is required.
