Writing and Rhetoric for Younger Kids - Fall 2026

Meets: Mondays from 4-5pm Pacific (7-8pm Eastern) - September 14 through December 14

Athena with her owl, Metropolitan Museum of Art

This class focuses on skills that are more important than ever: how to persuade, and how to understand if you should be persuaded by others. By reading the speeches of great writers and speakers from the classical and modern worlds, students will learn both to dissect and understand the arguments of others, and to write and persuasively argue their own points. Optional weekly exercises consist of recognizing and crafting particular arguments, fallacies, and strategies; an optional term paper allows students to practice writing on a larger scale.
